Dersin Amacı

The aim of the course is to teach the basic principles of statics, drawing free-body diagrams, analysis of distributed loads, drawing shear and bending moment diagrams for beams and machine elements, the laws of dry friction, and calculations of centers of gravity and moments of inertia of areas.

This course covers important vector concepts and their classification; balancing of force systems; free-body diagrams; analysis of trusses, beams, ropes and chains; dry friction; first and second moments of area; and the concept of virtual work.
